RECORD OF OYSTER WI MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 19 AUGUST 2019

Speaker: Margaret Palmer – Easy Cake Icing
Karen opened the meeting and welcomed everyone.
Karen spoke of the sad news that Mary Chappell had passed away. Details of her funeral would be
circulated to all members when known.
A demonstration was given by Margaret Palmer on Easy Cake Icing and members had a go at decorating a
cup cake with varied results!
Visits and Suggestion Box:
• Visit to Mickleham Priory – speak to Karen G about this.
• Eltham Palace – Karen P will send circulate information and if anyone is interested, we will take a
look at organising transport.
• Canterbury Cathedral – to be reviewed in Autumn as there is a lot of work taking place at the
Cathedral at the moment
• Trip to Deal
• Sandwiches on the Beach in November
Thanks went to Eileen and Pam for organising the Afternoon Tea in August. £160 was raised with half going
to the food bank. A thank you to Gill for supplying the strawberries for the afternoon tea.
Thanks went to Marion for organising the Fish and Chips on the beach which unfortunately was cancelled at
the last moment due to the weather.
Oyster WI Events:
Outdoor Bowls on 13th September in Birchington – Sally Lake is organising
Panto at the Playhouse in January – Karen is now taking names
Elaine Dukes is waiting to hear about Indoor Bowls
Elaine also mentioned the Afternoon Tea at Swalecliffe Community Centre on Monday 30th September.
This is a get together of ladies from local WI’s. Either just turn up or let Elaine know you are going.
Sunday Munchers for any ladies that would like to lunch on a Sunday – please speak to Maggie/Linda if you
would like to be added to the Group.
Ladies that Socialise for any social events that may be of interest – please see Pam to be added to the
WhatsApp Group
The raffle made £40 and £6.62 was raised from voting for the best iced cake.
Next Meeting:
Monday 16th September 2019.
Speaker will be Dementia Friends (change to original speaker).
