Pinneries
The members of the Pinneries meet up once a fortnight at members' homes on a Tuesday from 10.30 until 12.30. The group is led by Marion Pledger and Anne Smedley, who are both experienced in dressmaking, repairs, design and soft furnishings. The ladies are a mixed ability group with different requirements and they can be helped both individually or as a group. Learning as they go along, ably assisted by tea and coffee, they have made cushions galore, aprons, table mats and even covered a headboard! One lady has started making her own Roman Blinds for a new house. Alterations and repairs have been undertaken (many dresses have been taken in or let out!) and they have been shown some upholstery work and are always looking out for new projects. At the moment the Pinneries is full as there are 8 members which is the maximum that can fit in to a member's home. |
Walk and Talk
The walking group meet every Wednesday morning at The Lounge in Tankerton at 10am. After a coffee, there's a leisurely stroll along the sea front to Seasalter or towards Hampton. Occasionally there are trips to other local places of interest. Friendly, controlled dogs are welcome on the walk. No booking required, just pitch up! A new walking group is starting on Friday 3rd November meeting at the Lounge, Tankerton. |
