RECORD OF OYSTER WI MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 20 MAY 2019

Speaker: No speaker, social evening
Karen Perry (President) welcomed everyone to the May meeting.
Members took part in quizzes and discussions at the meeting and had a members’ baby photograph
competition.
Spoke about World Bee Day – flowers that attract bees include foxgloves, clover, honeysuckle, dandelions.
Resolutions were discussed:
1) Decline in local Bus Services
2) Don’t Fear the Smear
Elaine spoke about the Walking Netball on a Thursday evening at Swalecliffe Community Centre. There are
now 4 more sessions left, hoping to take part in a game at Herne Bay High at the end of the sessions.
Clothes Swap – Maryce and Barbara will advise a date when this will take place and a decision will be
needed as to what the money raised will go towards.
Visits and Suggestion Box:
• Visit to Mickleham Priory – speak to Karen G about this.
• Eltham Palace – Karen P will send circulate information and if anyone is interested, we will take a
look at organising transport.
• Canterbury Cathedral – to be reviewed in Autumn as there is a lot of work taking place at the
Cathedral at the moment
• Trip to Deal
• Sandwiches on the Beach in November
Oyster WI Events:
Sunday Munchers for any ladies that would like to lunch on a Sunday – please speak to Maggie/Linda if you
would like to be added
Ladies that Socialise for any social events that may be of interest – please see Pam to be added to the
WhatsApp Group
Ladies that Dine at Sal and Pepe on 22nd May.
